Athanasia Panagea & Nora Adwan

SHADOWS ASSEMBLED: A PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLABORATION

Over 10 years, Panagea and Adwan would arrange to meet at a certain time in a particular place where they would explore, photograph and work together. The book records and gathers anecdotes, meetings and photographs from these explorations.

Shadows assembled includes text contributions by Mihaela Miron, Dragan Bozanic, Jessica Serran, Aleksandar Stojanovic and Christina Makri.

Athanasia Panagea and Nora Adwan have been collaborating since 2009. Panagea is a photographer from Athens and Adwan is a visual artist based in Bergen. They met by chance in Belgrade in 2008 and discovered mutual interests in art and photography. In their early discussions they debated the impact of history and conflict on the lives of individuals; how we are marked by events beyond our control which impact our identities, family relationships and opportunities.

Edited by Stine Hebert & Anne Szefer Karlsen

Exploring one of the most influential methods of contemporary cultural production, Self-Organised takes a broad view on the matter. Artists, curators and critics discuss empirical and theoretical approaches from Europe, Africa and South and North America to how self-organisation today oscillates between the self and the group, self-imposed bureaucratisation and flexibilism, aestheticisation and activism. The contributors identify now as a crucial moment to propose ways forward for parallel initiatives and institutions alike: from de-organisation and waiting, to rupture and coexistence of aesthetics and politics. However, what they all seem to share is a refreshing search for critical platforms of citizenship, harnessing self-determination in the wake of neo-liberal mainstreaming and right-wing populism alike.

Möbius

MÖBIUS - 2016

ØYVIND RENBERG & MIHO SHIMIZU

Copy edited by Tania Inowlocki

Möbius is a catalogue made to accompany the exhibition by Miho Shimizu & Øyvind Renberg at Damsgård in Norway. The book presents a larger body of work leading to Möbius, produced in response to travels along the West coast of Norway, as well as the Damsgård manor. Realized in different parts of the world during the last six years, the material starts with picture scrolls and wallpapers inspired by flowers from the Damsgård garden and a fjord mural painted as a picture scroll for those who drive by in cars on the FDR road on Manhattan, New York. The video trilogy Free Townswoman, Seeing Double, Double Trouble, shot in Berlin, Tokyo and San Diego, introduces characters and scene motifs explored further in Möbius. The productions were initiated during a traveling residency organized by Hordaland Kunstsenter in 2009-10. Hordaland Kunstsenter is collaboration partner for the exhibition at Damsgård, and in the publication of the catalogue.

Black Lake Monologue

KOBIE NEL, 2017

Edited by Scott Elliott, Published by Coda Press

Black Lake Monologue is an annotated text from a performance and lecture, outlining Nel's extensive research through her studio practice surrounding the Isdalskvinnen case.

Nel's research and subsequent exhibition at Tag Team Studio centred around the voice of the silenced woman, a woman who’s public profile has been shaped by the male gaze through exaggerated representations and rumours of the single travelling woman. Leaving aside the great narratives of history and their polished protagonists, her investigations arise out of a fascination with micro stories of female individuals and the uncertainties, myths, speculations and distorting representations surrounding them.
